Frequently Asked Questions
Do you buy books? We trade books for Store Credit, but we never pay money for books.
How do I search your inventory online? Unfortunately, we don't keep our inventory online. You're always welcome to call us (704-544-8006), email us (bookrack@bellsouth.net), or message us through Facebook, Instagram or Google. The fastest option is normally calling and there is an answering machine if we're closed. We're always happy to check stock for you, to put books aside for you if we have them in stock, or to put the books on a want list for you if we don't.
Do you carry New Books or only Used Books? We carry a small selection of new books -- mostly the new fiction paperbacks that are published each month plus some Classics. They're 20% off the publisher's price and Store Credit can be used to take an additional 5% off.
Can you tell me in advance whether or not you'll take my books? We only consider books when they're in the store. We cannot consider books based on a photograph, list, or over the phone.
Do you mail books? We're happy to mail books to you. We normally ship via Media Mail. We can take payment by PayPal or by a credit card over the phone or by a check through the mail.
Can you appraise my books? That's not a service we can offer. Tall Stories in Rock Hill can sometimes provide that service.
Are there any types of books that you never take? We don't take computer books, most textbooks, condensed books, multi-volume encyclopedias, or magazines. Otherwise, it depends on what kind of book it is, how many copies we already have, how popular it is, what genre it is, etc.
Can I order books from you? We can Special Order most new books that are in print -- normally at 20% off the publisher's price. We can't order used books, but we can put them on a want list for you and let you know when they're traded in to us.
Do you carry Local Authors? We have a Local section that contains used books by Local Authors and of Local Interest. We don't take books on consignment nor do we have space to hold Author events.
What do you do with the books you can't take? If we can't take some of your books, you can either take them away with you or we can give them to one of the charities that pick up from us.

Do you offer a teacher discount? For teachers purchasing books for their classrooms, we provide Store Credit worth 25% of your used book purchase. Make sure you tell us you're a teacher when you check out!
